Brooks-TLC Hospital System, Inc. has announced the appointment of Dr. Marlene Hassenfratz as medical director.  A doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed her residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation through the University of Buffalo and Erie County Medical Center in 2009.  Dr. Hassenfratz also completed Chief Medical Officer Executive Leadership Training at the Association of American Medical Colleges.  As an osteopathic physician, Dr. Hassenfratz has a philosophy that considers the patient’s mind, body, and spirit in any treatment plan.

With over 20 years of progressive experience in healthcare and business management, Dr. Hassenfratz brings an impressive background as an accomplished senior clinical executive with administrative expertise in strategic planning, solution management, risk assessment and change management.

Most recently, Dr. Hassenfratz served as chief of staff at Roseburg VA Healthcare System in Oregon and previously was deputy chief of staff at Eastern Colorado VA Health Care System and Physician Executive at Chillicothe VA Medical Center in Ohio.  She also served as medical director at PCA Pain Care Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Throughout her career, Dr. Hassenfratz has earned ratings of Outstanding and she was a Top Ranked US Executive with the National Council of American Executives in 2014.

A native of Lackawanna, NY, Dr. Hassenfratz and her husband, also from Western New York, relocated to the area to spend quality time with family.  In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, gardening, horseback riding, tennis and listening to classical music.

In her new role at the hospital, she plans to lead with integrity and transparency to promote a culture of excellence, quality, and patient-centered care.  She hopes to contribute to a positive, safe and enjoyable workplace.
